Fiddlin' Pete Watercott performing "Old Joe Clark" at the Elko Cowboy Poetry Gathering (youtube video) I hope that you have enjoyed the video featuring my fiddle performance at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. Now certainly the fiddle has played a much more important role in the old traditional cowboy music than guitar. Certainly the fiddle, along with banjos and harmonicas were much more likely to be seen at a campfire "out on the trail". It would be tough to pack a guitar on horseback, but you could easily pack a fiddle on horseback. Of course a fiddle would never fit in your pocket, like a harmonica, but you could pack the fiddle on a mule, haul a fiddle in the chuck wagon.

If you are going to fiddle, what better place to fiddle than out on a ranch beneath the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountain range. This fiddle I am playing in the photo was a fiddle built in France in 1898. This old fiddle originally sold for just $9. Now that is a good price for a fiddle. It is my "go to" fiddle anytime I perform on the fiddle. And believe me I fiddle, fiddle, fiddle, fiddle!

Playing fiddle with partner Neil Gelvin at the Laws Railroad Museum. There is nothin' that sounds better than a fiddle at a train museum, in my opinion. Of course the fiddle will lend itself to many occasions and places. I was actually advised that the more I used "fiddle" on my webpage, the more likely someone who googled "fiddle" would find me. So that is why I will tell you right now, I fiddle for trains, fiddle for friends, fiddle for weddings, fiddle for birthdays. I fiddle for a reason, I fiddle for the season, and sometimes I fiddle for absolutely no reason at all except to fiddle, fiddle, and fiddle! And now I sure hope that will convince anyone that I can sure fiddle, fiddle, fiddle!
